Fair Wear Foundation

Fair Wear Foundation is a Dutch organisation that strives for good working conditions in the clothing industry in countries where clothes are produced for the Dutch and European markets. The means Fair Wear Foundation uses for this purpose is a code of conduct for clothing companies. This code of conduct is based on the internationally recognised standards of the ILO.

Companies participating in the Fair Wear Foundation implement the labour standards stated in the code of conduct and accept the supervision of the Fair Wear Foundation for the pursuit of true improvement of the working conditions at their suppliers. The bulk of the clothing for the Western market is produced in developing countries in Northern Africa, Eastern Europe and China. The working conditions in these countries are often not (yet) satisfactory: a heavy workload, no living wages, child labour and union suppression are the most heard complaints.

Companies, including MANDERLEY, in the clothing industry are increasingly aware of their moral responsibility for decent working conditions.
